Looking for a new racquet to fuel your year? We’ve got our eye on ProKennex this season. This is a company that is (in their own words) “immersed in the racquet sports lifestyle.” I like the sound of that and so should you. When looking for a racquet, you want a company that is just as passionate about the sport as you are. So, without further ado, let’s talk about some of the new tech they’ve put out.
Their QPlus Technology sounds pretty legit. Their new material has a chassis weight with 25% more Kinetic Energy Chambers than their last model of racquet. So what exactly does that look like? Their site says that it means that more of the wasted energy from shock, torque, and vibration will be blasted back to the ball into controlled direction and speed. The bottom line for this tech is that it yields some of the most (if not the most) efficient energy transfer in racquet equipment. Wow. Yeah, we got excited when we read that, too.
Okay, now let’s look at the Quadfocus. ProKennex moved the Energy Chambers into the four corners of the frame to position the chambers away from the most stable part to the most vulnerable part of the frame. What this does is that it focuses the energy much more efficiently, and gives you a sweet spot like no other. Tip speed is going to be faster than hip speed with this virtual square instead of the normal oval shape. The best part is that the cornered expansion gives you a massive advantage as the ball takes off from the sweet spot in the 10-2 positions.
We’re all seeking quality and peak performance, and this looks like it’s got both. I have to admit that one point or two sounds a bit too much like publicity fluff, especially with the part about a racquet that channels “more” wasted energy back into the ball’s velocity. I guess it’s something I’ll have to try out for myself and see if it’s true. Also the bit about the sweet spot in the Quadfocus design is intriguing to me; curious to know what that feels like for this racquet…
We’ve used ProKennex and love them. Have you? Are these racquets you’ll try out? We certainly will. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
